Absolutely Bear Clothing Review | Ethical Fashion
Absolutely Bear is an ethical fashion clothing label which aims to merge style and comfort with a sense of humour. The Bear represents a generation of people that want to help make the world a better place.
Absolutely Bear has ethics at the core of it’s business. They source from suppliers which are members of the ‘Fair Wear Foundation’ which ensures good working conditions for garment workers. Additionally, they use sustainable materials, such as organic cotton and tencel. The company aims to give back by partnering with two charities, BECOME and The Born Free Foundation through it’s Bear Fund, of which they donate 10% of all profits made from their clothing.
A quick visit to their website will clearly show that they are a brand that wants to grow and take on the big guys. It’s a clean website, but still perhaps a little bare (pardon the pun). Rather than produce a massive amount of different clothing, the company is focusing on producing a smaller, higher quality range, and I think that is a great approach to take.
I have the Cosmic Bear Face T-Shirt, and the Oakley Organic Black Cotton Polo Shirt. I think that both of these are great pieces of clothing, they look great, feel premium, and I really like the design. They are comfortable to wear, and definitely do not feel cheap. Often, vegan and ethical clothing brands use designs which really push the message, and make you feel like a walking billboard. Even if you agree with the politicised images on them, sometimes you just want to wear something which looks great, but you know it’s ethical. Absolutely Bear fulfils this, as the designs are never too loud, and rather subtle, which is something I definitely appreciate.
Whether or not this brand is for you depends on how much you value ethics and trying to make the world a better place. It’s easy to understand why some people would rather buy five shirts for a fiver in Primark, but you have to stop and question why that is so cheap, and is it really worth it. It’s also possible to pay more from a big brand, which also uses sweatshops and gives nothing back, so it’s not all about the price. If you’re looking for a quality, ethical brand with reasonable prices, and designs which are practical to wear in every day life – look no further than Absolutely Bear.
