Barry M Colour Correcting Wand in Lemon Review
If you are a long time reader of Friendly and Free, then you will probably noticed I am quite a fan of cruelty free brand Barry M.
Today I am just posting a quick review of the Colour Correcting Wand in lemon. In the correcting wands, Barry M also does purple, to brighten the skin, and green, to neutralise redness. I’m just trying out the lemon one – which claims to “eradicate” dark circles.
Eradicate is quite a bold claim to make, especially as I have permanent panda eyes. No matter how long I sleep for (8 hours, 12 hours, a week, etc), I will always have dark circles.
Usually I just use the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (in fair) on top of foundation, a very popular choice, but as the consistency of it is quite thick it creases under my eyes. The texture of the Barry M correcting wand is much more lightweight therefore blending in better and leaving less chance for creasing.
Because this is not a concealer, you can apply it to your under eye area before foundation. I like feathering it out with the Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush. This product once blended completely lifts your eyes. It combats dark circles really, really well.
Application
It’s really easy to apply, it has a doe foot applicator and the top of the tube narrows so you don’t get to much product out. You just need one swipe for both eyes and it provides so much coverage. It’s also quite moisturising on the eyes and it has a matte finish.
You can apply your regular foundation over the top and it neutralises the colour corrector so it’s not so bright and lemony and crazy looking. I just sweeped a bit of powder on, all over my face and for my under eye I use the same powder but a smaller brush so it’s a bit more precise.
I have very pale skin and I was wondering how this would work if you had darker skin. I have had a little google and for darker skin tones peach, orange and red are a lot better suited so I would really like to see Barry M offer more shades in this collection.
Packaging
The packaging is fine, it’s a plastic round tube with a black lid. You get a lot of product, 8ml, for £4.49 which makes it very affordable.
Overall
I am really impressed with this little product, it’s affordable at £4.49 and a little bit goes a long way. It pretty much completely hides your dark circles and it’s easy to apply and blend out. Currently there are only three shades and I think there needs to be a few more added. Barry M has a Colour Correcting Kit which has orange and peach but these are creams in a palette and I think the wand is a lot easier to use.
