Donating My Hair to the Little Princess Trust

So last week I finally got a much needed haircut. I’ve been wanting to cut my hair short for a while and I thought just before my birthday would be as good time as any.

Because I was cutting so much of my hair I decided to donate my hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides free wigs to children suffering from cancer, and alopecia, across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

The charity also helps fund research into childhood cancers and has recently awarded over £500,000 for this purpose.

The first picture is before I got my haircut, it was quite long and I had a few blonde highlights but the charity will accept hair that has been dyed or bleached as long as it is not too damaged.

The second image is my hair chopped off – your hair has to be clean and dry to post to the charity and they ask you not to use conditioner. I think my hairdresser was more scared than me to cut the plaited pony tail off!

The last picture is from when I took my hair to the post office to send off (which is a weird statement to make). I am super happy with my haircut, it is lighter and so much easier to take care of. I was also so happy to have help contribute towards something important.

Have you got #HairToSpare? Let us know in the comments below if you have donated your hair before or if this would be something you’d be interested in doing?
