ELF Haul with Mini Reviews | Cruelty Free & Vegan Beauty

Recently the brand E.L.F. had a huge sale on their website, and with such affordable prices I decided to order a *few* items. E.L.F. is Peta certified cruelty free and vegan!

Eye products

Prism Eyeshadow Palette in Naked – £4

This palette contains six natural, everyday shades that are pretty and wearable. The prism eyeshadows are described as looking like a powder but feeling like a cream. To be honest they look and feel like a powder, the colour pay off is okay but you really have to dig into the pan to get some decent colour. Once you do get some colour out, they blend together okay and I think for £4 it’s not a bad little number.

Prism Eyeshadow Palette in Sunset – £4

This palette is exactly the same as the naked palette but I prefer the colours in this one. It has four really pretty pink shades and an orange and a purple. Pinks and purples are generally my favourite, go-to eyeshadows but I like that they added orange because it’s not a colour you see very often in palettes like these. It is worth noting these shadows can be used wet for more vibrant colour but I haven’t tried that yet.

Baked Eyeshadow Palette in California – £4

The last palette I ordered was a baked eyeshadow palette that comes with 12 shades, each of which is very shimmery. These shadows are infused with jojoba, rose, sunflower, almond, and grape seed which is nice because I have really dry skin – especially around my eyes. The shades are really pretty and the colour pay off is pretty intense!

Smudge Pot Cream Eyeshadows in Ain’t That Sweet and Cruisin’ Chic – £1.80 each

I am really impressed with these two little smudge pots, I am really into cream and liquid eyeshadows as I can just poke my finger in, pat it all over my eyeballs and I personally think it’s a look. These shades are really pretty and actually very pigmented! I’ve been using them both everyday, and you can even blend them both together, starting with the light pink shade (ain’t that sweet) and working outwards, away from the inner corner. I definitely recommend these and I think I will get a few more shades!

Eyebrow Lifter & Filler in Ivory/Light – £1.80

This is a chubby eyebrow filler pencil with a light ivory colour at the end. It is easier to use than a concealer to carve out the shape of the brow as the pencil shape glides right on rather than using product and a brush. After ‘lifting’ my brows, I use a Lottie concealer brush to soften it a bit and it works really well. The filler end is slightly too light for me but the other end is really useful so I don’t mind. There are only two shades available in this product which are ivory/light brown and ivory/medium brown, which is not at all inclusive of all skin types.

Blush in Tickled Pink – £1.80

Next up is a pretty simple blusher. I have been using The Body Shop All-In-One Cheek Colour in the shade bubblegum which is a really nice pink but I think this one from ELF looks a lot more on the coral side than pink. That being said, it is still quite a pretty shade and very natural looking. Again, you do have to swirl your brush in there for a decent amount of pigment.

Baked Highlight in Pink Diamonds – £2

I don’t use highlighter that often as I find it can be quite bright and intense, so I thought this shade was quite natural looking and easy to wear. With the E.L.F. baked products, it’s almost as though you have to kind of get rid of the top layer and underneath the shell the product is more pigmented.

Free gifts

Illuminate Palette – Free gift, usually £7.50

I got the illuminate palette as a free gift, and it contains four shades which you are able to mix and match for a complimentary shade. The powders are quite light reflective and they look soft and pretty on the skin around the brow bone and cheek bones.

Lip Lacquer in Bold Pink – Free gift, usually £3

The last thing I received was this shiny lip gloss in the shade bold pink. I never would have picked this shade for myself, I probably would have gone for Tea Rose, but it actually doesn’t look too intense if you dot a little in the centre of your lips and blend it out with a cotton bud or just your finger.

Summary

Overall I’m pretty happy with my little selection from E.L.F., I’m a big fan of their flawless finish foundation and their liquid eyeshadows. I think they are really affordable, which makes them a fun, playful brand. If you are looking to try something new without spending a lot, then E.L.F. is a great place to buy trendy products.
