Fushi Vegan Argan and Amalaki Shampoo and Conditioner Review + Really Good Hair Oil Review

I recently received a package from Fushi Wellbeing that contained lots of lovely goodies. Today I’m going to be reviewing the Argan and Amalaki Shampoo, the Argan and Amalaki Conditioner, and the Really Good Hair Oil.

Really Good Hair Oil

Fushi’s Really Good Hair Oil contains organic sesame seed oil, brahmi serum, coconut oil, avocado oil, sweet almond oil, argan oil, neem, jasmine, and vitamin e. After a little research, I found that brahmi is a herb that contains antioxidants.

There’s two ways you can use the hair oil, you can either massage it into your roots, cover with a hot towel and leave it for half an hour (or more) before rinsing and washing – or you can leave it on. For this review, I left it on for half an hour and covered my hair in a steaming towel. I damped the towel first and then microwaved it for thirty seconds. It was okay at first, but after half an hour the towel was cold and heavy because it was quite damp – so I suggest trying the other night method!

The scent is lovely and the glass bottle has a plastic stopper so too much doesn’t come out. I found the easiest way to apply it was to put some into my hand and then massage it into the roots. It smells very flowery when it’s on the hair and when it’s being rinsed out. After rinsing, you need to wash your hair thoroughly.

I have tried the shampoo and conditioner with and without the oil. Washing your hair straight after meant I wasn’t too sure whether the oil made my hair soft or the other products. I would say that my hair did feel softer after using the hair oil.

The Really Good Hair Oil will set you back £18/100ml which I think is not too badly priced. A little goes a long way so I can see this oil lasting, and Fushi really do ensure that the quality of ingredients is top notch. The oils inside the product are fresh pressed from the latest season’s harvest, and the herbs are dried and ground by hand within hours to ensure that the ingredients retain the most effectiveness and potency.

✿ The bottle is made from glass and the packaging is cardboard so both can be recycled.

Argan & Amalaki Shampoo

By this point, I have been using the shampoo and conditioner every wash for about a week and a half. Over this time, I really do think this duo is brilliant.

The shampoo smells really good, it lathers up nicely, and it rinses out easily. I hate shampoos that take forever to rinse out so this is a big plus in my books. After rinsing my hair feels so clean! It’s made of 80% organic herbs and oils with mild detergents. As a dry scalp sufferer, I often find that shampoos irritate my scalp and cause itchiness but this one doesn’t for me. I think it’s just the right mix of effective cleansing and gentleness.

The Argan & Amalaki Shampoo costs £11/250ml. Again, I think this is a fair price for the quality and the effort that goes into producing Fushi products.

Argan & Amalaki Conditioner

The conditioner is also very good, it does what a conditioner is supposed to do – hydrate your hair without leaving it heavy and weighed down. I use it all over my hair and roots and leave it on for a couple of minutes before rinsing out. It leaves my hair feeling very soft and healthy.

I have colour-treated hair so my hair is damaged, dry and porous. It didn’t say on the bottles whether the products were suitable for coloured hair, but being so natural and fresh I took a chance and I haven’t noticed any real colour fade, and they have actually made my damaged hair feel a bit healthier.

The Argan & Amalaki Conditioner costs £13/250ml. You can expect conditioners to cost a little more because they contain more active ingredients and less detergents, and it really is a lovely conditioner.

Packaging and the environment

The shampoo and conditioner bottles are made from PET plastic (polyethylene terephthalate). I reached out to Fushi to ask about the plastic packaging and they informed me that PET is a more environmentally friendly choice. This is because PET is less rigid and less chemically resistant so it is more easily recycled than other plastics.

The labels are printed with natural vegetable inks which are less harmful to the environment.

I don’t normally discuss the aesthetic of a product, but I must admit that these products do look really nice. The labels on the shampoo and conditioner are really pretty and understated.

Fushi are an environmentally proactive company, and have been awarded by the Ethical Organisation for their contributions:

“Fushi Wellbeing is ethically accredited and has been awarded by the Ethical Organisation for its commitment to alleviate environmental waste, pollution, child labour, animal testing and other unfair trade practices.”

The brand also has recently started the ‘Tree for Eternity’ campaign, which takes a percentage of profits to put towards Tree Aid. Tree Aid is a charity that aims to reduce poverty in rural Africa. You can read more about Tree Aid by clicking here.

Summary

I am really impressed with these products from Fushi. The company has put a lot of time and effort into creating quality products with organic, effective ingredients. I think the price ranges are reasonable and match the quality. Across the ranges, Fushi remains free from artificial chemicals and emphasises the importance of being environmentally aware. Of course, none of these products are tested on animals. I can’t wait to try out some different products are see what comes next from Fushi!
