Hurraw! Premium Vegan Lip Balms Review | Vegan Skincare
I was really excited to receive a package in the post this week that contained nine lovely lip balms from Hurraw! Balm. Hurraw! is a US-based brand which launched in 2010. The company was launched with the aim of making ‘truly natural, vegan’ balms ‘made from premium raw and organic ingredients.’
Today I’m going to be reviewing each flavour balm I received and sharing my thoughts. I talk mainly about the scents below as all the balms have a similar texture, creamy, long-lasting and very moisturising.
Vanilla bean | Classic collection
The vanilla bean palm smells like vanilla ice-cream and the texture is creamy and moisturising without feeling greasy. It also doesn’t have that fake, sugary scent that some lip balms do.
Key ingredients: Safflower seed, sweet almond and cacao seed butter.
Black cherry | Classic collection
The black cherry balm is a tinted lip balm that smells heavenly fruity, and the colour is 100% plant based. It glides on nicely and adds a nice finishing touch to any makeup look.
Key ingredients: Safflower seed, sweet almond and cacao seed butter.
Sun | Essential Collection
The sun balm contains SPF15 and the flavour is tangerine and chamomile. It smells fruity and the formulation is thicker and creamier than all the other flavours to last longer in the sunshine. A few days ago here in the UK we had a mini heatwave in which I was slathering on this balm. It kept my lips protected from the sun, however, it did make my lips look very white so do remember that if your going to be in photographs or anything.
Key ingredients: red raspberry seed, sea buckthorn, and pomegranate seed oil.
Moon | Essential collection
I religiously use a lip balm every single night so I was really excited to try out the moon balm. It contains blue chamomile and vanilla, and I can only describe the scent as the smell you are greeted with when you walk into a shop that sells crystals and harem trousers.
Key ingredients: avocado, rosehip seed, meadowfoam seed, and argan oil.
Baobab banana | Fresh collection
I think the baobab banana balm is my favourite out of all the flavours I’ve tried, it is so creamy and moisturising whilst smelling so fruity and fresh. It reminds me of a fresh banana shake.
Key ingredients: baobab seed, safflower seed, and jojoba seed oil.
Papaya pineapple | Fresh collection
This balm is slightly darker in colour than the other flavours and it smells like piña colada, my cocktail of choice! It smells so tropical and fruity, and the formulation is really nice.
Key ingredients: papaya seed, jojoba, and coconut oil.
Pitta | Dosha collection
Dosha is a term in Ayurvedic medicine that comprises of three ‘energies’: pitta, vata, and kapha.
The pitta balm has a tropical coconut scent, but the mint and lemongrass smell almost like a mojito – refreshing and cooling!
Pitta Dosha qualities: fiery, intense, sharp.
Key ingredients: coconut oil, cacao butter, and peppermint oil.
Vata | Dosha collection
The vata balm smells of almond, cardamon, and rose. It’s a very warm scent, spiced scent which is complimented nicely by the rose. I initially thought a cardamon scented lip balm would not be pleasant but this lip balm is my favourite from the dosha collection.
Vata Dosha qualities: light, cold, subtle.
Key ingredients: rose flower, cardamon seed oil and ashwagandha root extract.
Kapha | Dosha collection
The kapha balm smells fresh and floral with a slight bit of spice from the ginger. It’s quite zingy and slightly warm, perfect for spring.
Kapha Dosha qualities: strong, calm, generous.
Key ingredients: ginger root, eucalyptus leaf, and grapefruit peel oil.
