Misleading Marketing from Garnier, L’Oreal and Unilever
For a while now I have seen new products coming onto the market, labelled as “green” and “vegan”. The fact of the matter is that these products are not vegan nor green and simply use trendy buzzwords as a ploy to sell more of their product. I’m sure there are more of these deceitful brands around but the three I am going to be focusing on today are Garnier, L’Oreal, and Unilever. Garnier is NOT vegan Garnier has been shamelessly plugging it’s vegan formulas for a while, claiming their new ranges will fit into “vegetarian and vegan lifestyles”. This is simply not true and here’s why… What’s true and what’s…

Wet n Wild is NOT cruelty free
Wet n Wild have recently been outed as a company that tests on animals. Much of the outrage has been caused by the fact that the brand uses its cruelty free status as a major selling point and brand definer. Wet n Wild, founded in Los Angeles, recently started selling their product lines in China which requires all beauty products to be tested on animals by law. An article from PETA claims that whilst Wet n Wild are now selling in China, the company remains cruelty free, arguing their products have not been tested on animals there. “The company wet n wild has expanded sales of its products to China but remains…

The first thing I wanted to discuss was the use of disposable coffee cups. Bloomberg estimates that 2.5 billion coffee cups are…

Little Ways to Use Less Plastic Everyday
Pass on using plastic straws Plastic straws do not biodegrade and they fill our landfills and oceans. Straws are especially damaging in a marine environment. Take your own reusable bag when shopping Plastic never breaks down and it can take up to a thousand years for one plastic bag to split into pieces but never fully biodegrade. Choose recyclable packaging Switching to products that use cardboard are often a more environmentally friendly choice over plastic packaging. To take an either further step, consider using a bag made from organic and fair-trade cotton. Buy your groceries in bulk Consider buying food like pasta and rice in bulk and storing them in…
