Sleek MakeUP Lip4 Lipstick Palette | Review
About the Brand
Sleek MakeUP has long been one of my favourite brands. They make cruelty-free, reasonably priced, good quality cosmetics. Sleek is also favourable for having such a varied amount of products and shades to suit all skin tones.
The Product
Lip4 is a palette of four highly pigmented lip shades. Havana (shade 860) comprises of the shades cookie, rum, frappuccino and crème brulee. All the shades in Havana are brown toned and so are well suited to darker skin tones. Each shade in this palette is highly pigmented and can be mixed together to create different shades. The shades in Havana are all either gloss or satin finishes.
The Showgirl (857) palette consists of the shades Lola, Vegas, Jewel, and Dancer. These shades are all pink toned and suitable for all skin tones. They are also highly pigmented and can be mixed together, however I found the shade Dancer didn’t have as much colour pay off as the other three shades. The shades in Showgirl are a mix of satin, gloss and matte.
Lipstick in a palette?
Familiarly, we seen eye shadows and blushers in palettes all the time, but it is not often a lipstick palette comes on to the market. However, I think these highly pigmented shades work very well in a palette because application is a lot easier with a brush and there is also the possibility to cocktail shades to make your perfect colour.
Packaging
The packaging follows the signature design of other Sleek palettes. Matte black plastic finished with the glossy sleek logo in the centre. The mirror is of okay quality – good enough to see what you’re doing – and it stays closed with a clip which is useful. The palette comes with a mini lip brush but I found it a bit too small for concise application.
Summary
Overall these are two good quality products from Sleek’s ever-growing collections. They also cater for a good range of different skin tones, unlike many other High Street brands. The lipsticks are highly pigmented so only little is needed for a good colour pay off, except for Dancer – but this could have been a one-off production issue. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced, highly pigmented collection of lip colours give Lip4 a try.
Lip4 lipstick palettes are currently available on sleekmakeup.com in the shades Ballet and Mardi Gras (£8.99).
