Misleading Marketing from Garnier, L’Oreal and Unilever
For a while now I have seen new products coming onto the market, labelled as “green” and “vegan”. The fact of the matter is that these products are not vegan nor green and simply use trendy buzzwords as a ploy to sell more of their product. I’m sure there are more of these deceitful brands around but the three I am going to be focusing on today are Garnier, L’Oreal, and Unilever. Garnier is NOT vegan Garnier has been shamelessly plugging it’s vegan formulas for a while, claiming their new ranges will fit into “vegetarian and vegan lifestyles”. This is simply not true and here’s why… What’s true and what’s…

Wet n Wild is NOT cruelty free
Wet n Wild have recently been outed as a company that tests on animals. Much of the outrage has been caused by the fact that the brand uses its cruelty free status as a major selling point and brand definer. Ecover and Method Are No Longer Cruelty Free!
In December, Ecover and Method became affiliated with SC Johnson, a company that openly admit to testing on animals. They also own Pledge, Duck, and Mr Muscle to name a few. The relationship between the brands is that Ecover and Method are now owned under the parent company of SC Johnson. SC Johnson’s animal testing policy: “We see an important need for toxicological studies that ensure they can be used safely and with minimal impact on the environment. Also, SC Johnson must comply with the stringent legal and regulatory requirements of countries around the world that require, by law, testing for certain products”. I was disappointed to hear that these…

The Body Shop’s Cruelty Free Status Update
Last Summer we posted an article addressing the cruelty free status of The Body Shop in which I said some of the information put out by the brand seemed a bit elusive but I was recently reached out to by the campaign manager at Naturewatch Foundation regarding my post. I was informed that TBS has been put on to the foundation's Compassionate Shopping Guide - the longest running cruelty free guide in the world!
